Questions restaurant owners ask
Does Storm Restaurant POS really work without internet?
Yes. It is a single file that runs in your web browser and never connects to the internet. Orders, payments, receipts, stock and reports all work offline, so internet outages do not stop service.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. You pay $350 once and keep the software. There are no subscriptions, per-device charges or commissions on your sales.
What devices does it run on?
Any computer or tablet with a modern browser: Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS and Android, and Safari on Mac and iPad. Tablets work from 768 pixels wide, with a large touch mode for bigger buttons.
Where is my data stored and how do I back it up?
Everything is stored inside the browser on your device, never on our servers. A one-click backup downloads your whole restaurant as a file, and restore shows a preview before anything changes. The app reminds you to back up every day.
Does it work with my receipt printer?
Yes. Any 80 mm or 58 mm thermal printer, or a normal A4 or Letter printer, installed on your device works through the normal print window. A built-in printer guide and test receipt help you set the paper size and margins.
Can it split bills and take several payment methods?
Yes. Split evenly to the cent, by item, by seat or by custom amounts, and combine cash, card, EFT, gift cards and loyalty points on the same check, with per-guest receipts.
Does it handle VAT, sales tax and service charge?
Yes. Choose tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive pricing, add several tax rates, set a service charge that can be taxable, and use any currency format. Receipts show a tax summary per rate.
Is there a kitchen display?
Yes. Tickets are split by station (kitchen, bar, dessert or your own), coloured by waiting time, show allergens and notes, play a sound when they arrive and can run full screen on a tablet.
Can I control what my staff can do?
Yes. Manager, supervisor and worker roles have a permission matrix. Staff sign in with a PIN, sensitive actions such as voids, refunds and large discounts need approval, and every action is recorded in an audit log.
Does it connect to card machines or cash drawers?
Card payments are taken on your own terminal and recorded in the POS, so you can use any provider. Direct card terminal, cash drawer kick and scale integrations are not included. Keyboard-style barcode scanners work out of the box.
Can several tills share one database?
This edition keeps its data on one device and browser, which is what makes it fully offline. You can move your data to another device at any time with backup and restore.
